These Key Safety Features Will Be Standard on Most 2018 Mazda Models

Mazda realizes that safety must come first when driving a car, which is why it's made a pact to ensure that most of its 2018 models—and future models to come—are equipped with two important safety features: forward-collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB). These features are key to stopping accidents from ever happening.

Heritage Mazda Bel Air, Catonsville & Towson has more details for you here.

How they work

Both FCW and AEB are safety systems that use cameras, radar, and/or lasers to detect a potential crash. When either system is activated, drivers are first alerted to the obstacle. If the driver doesn't respond in time, the vehicle can engage the brakes automatically, helping to prevent a collision. Both of these features will be available on all 2018 Mazda models (save for the Mazda MX-5 Miata), and AEB will be standard on every trim level of most of Mazda's lightweight vehicles starting in 2022.

Driving matters (and so does safety)

“Mazda’s safety philosophy is based on understanding, respecting, and trusting the driver, because driving matters,” said Masahiro Moro, president and CEO, MNAO. “To that end, Mazda is committed to implementing both passive and active safety technologies on our vehicles to help drivers in unpredictable driving situations.”
