See How Mazda Leads the Way in Manufacturing High-Quality Automobiles

Sometimes it seems like automotive manufacturers have lost sight of their passion for automobiles, focusing instead on how to stamp out the next top-selling SUV or sedan, with great features and interesting technology gimmicks. But that’s where Mazda stands apart from the rest. Before the great technology features, options, and add-ons come into play, Mazda focuses on the emotion of the vehicle itself, which has solidified the automaker as one that is not only producing innovative vehicles for the modern driver, but one that is also crafting vehicles that speak to the driver. When you own a Mazda, it’s hard to resist turning around and stealing one last look at it as you walk away.

Mazda’s Takumi Masters

Designers and engineers that make up the Mazda creative team aren’t your typical automotive masterminds. The elite teams that craft Mazda’s models are led by Takumi Masters, who receive the title once they have spent decades mastering their craft. Some designers, like Osamu Fujiki, focus on even the smallest details to ensure that the entire vehicle is created with passion, down to the stitching on the steering wheel.

Beauty is something that resonates in your heart and catches your eye, isn’t it? We try and think about how beauty can be found in the ordinary and everyday, and we try to realize that in turn with the shapes that we create. The way materials are put together becomes very important when taking all this into consideration.

Pure Japanese Aesthetics

Designers and engineers at Mazda are dedicated to truly embodying Japanese design in their work, and they view each model not as a car, but as a piece of art in motion. They intend to bring the brand to life, combining precision-sculpted body panels, carefully chosen interior textures, and eye-catching design language.

Rather than relying on computer-generated models, designers and engineers utilize clay for sculpting models from paper design, so that they can truly engage with the lines, angles, and shapes of the vehicles, as well as the way they feel against their hands.

Metal Perfection

Mazda employs cross-roll forging to piece together many engine and transmission parts for their vehicles. This incredibly rare process is used by metal engineers in Mazda’s forging factory, rather than conventional methods, and requires close attention to detail and mastery of every step of the process. As many as 400 small pieces of die are used, and knowing how they work together is critical for quality-control. Engineers spend years mastering the techniques used in the cross-roll forging process to ensure that each vehicle lives up to the brand’s standard.

Constantly seeking that perfection, Mazda engineers rejected more than 12,000 grinding stones when they finally decided to create their own. These stones allow engineers to sculpt the master metal molds by hand, ensuring that the final product is as well-crafted as it is beautiful.

The dedication and precision that goes into the design and manufacturing of Mazda models ensures that you'll get a vehicle that is as beautiful as it is reliable.
